Working from Home

It sounds great. No more commuting, freedom to start and finish when you want but it can be a lonely experience because you will no longer have the regular contact with workmates and the blurring of distinctions between your working and private life.

No matter how much you enjoy your job, its essential to be able to get away from it.
It is necessary to plan a home-based business and be aware of the pitfalls and you will then have the benefit of being able to achieve a satisfying balance between all your commitments.

One of the biggest problems in working from home is not being able to switch off. When you walk out of work at the end of the day you can forget about it but with your work is at home there's always a bit more you can do before you go to bed.
You can concentrate better at home because you have fewer distractions than at the office but you can miss the opportunity to talk to colleagues who understand what you are working on, rather than friends and family who may not have the same interest.

Make time to socialize and meet new people and develop new support networks because this contact will help you stay focused and develop the motivation and ideas to make your business successful.
Working from home is generally cheaper with no commuting costs, no office rental and can be the answer for those first starting out.

You will need the right equipment because using the dining room table for all your papers, the computer on the coffee table, while sitting on the couch is not a good way to operate your business.

If you are a mother with young children, working at home is a way to balance work and family responsibilities by saying goodbye to the boss, long hours of commuting and the guilt you feel when you cannot spend the time with your children, without sacrificing needed income.
