Databases

A database of some sort is essential for any business today because you need to keep a good record of your clients and customers.

The central objective of a customer database is to build a bond between your business and your customers that result in increased loyalty and expanded sales.

Using a modern database, you will keep information in your database about your customers, their preferences ,their purchases. Why keep such information? So that you can development a relationship with your customers by giving them recognition, personal services, special attention.

Before you spend a lot of money and time on building a database you need to decide what are you going to do with it. Collecting names and information is the easy part but what you have to do is to think up how you are going to use the database so that the customers will find that what you are providing is of value to them. for them.

What you need to do is to come up with a great idea for building a customer relationship with new and existing customers.

No matter how busy you are, be sure to enter every new customer and prospect name into your database along with with all their other details. Then every time you touch base with a
customer or prospect, make a note so that you have a running log of your emails, faxes and phone calls to refer to.

You may want to send a flyer out to your contacts but the most important thing is to build that relationship with your customers so before you make contact with a customer check the database to see what was discussed last time you met.

If the business will involve selling to other businesses I would suggest you use the UBD database www.ubd.co.nz.

Most of the information is free but if you require much more detailed knowledge of your potential customer UBD as the can supply you with much more information but at a cost.
