Your business strategy is the single biggest factor which determines
the success or failure of your business. It doesn’t matter whether you

prosper but get it wrong and it could result in the failure of your
business
What you need to do is set aside time to sit down and make a marketing
plan for your business. Set yourself a list of achievable resolutions

Sales Forecast for a new Business
These steps for developing a sales forecast that can be applied for
most start Up businesses Develop a customer profile and determine the trends in your
industry and make some basic assumptions about the customers in your
target market.
It is a well known fact that 20% of your customers will account for
about 80% of your business so if you can identify this 20% you are
able to develop a profile of your potential customers.
Determine trends by talking to trade suppliers about what is selling
well and also check out copies of the Trade Magazines articles that
apply to your industry.
Establish the approximate size and location of your planned trading
area.
Use available statistics and local resources to determine the general
characteristics of this area.
How far will your average customer travel to buy a product from your
shop.
List and profile competitors selling in your trading area and then get
out on the street and study them by visiting their stores and
locations where they sell there products are offered.
Analyze the locations, customer volumes, traffic patterns, hours of
operation, busy periods, prices, quality of their goods and services
and product lines carried.
Also study the promotional techniques they use such as catalogues and
other handouts.
Now you need to use your research to estimate your sales on a monthly
basis for your first year.
You can use the basis for your forecast on a similar size competitor’s
operation who is operating in a similar market and you will need to
make an adjustment by a factor of about 40% for the start up period.
Consider population and economic growth in your trading area and how
well does your competitor satisfy the needs of your potential
customers.
Determine how your business fits in this picture and will you be able
to offer a better location, convenience, a better price, latter hours
and overall a better service.
Estimating your potential sales for the first 12 months is not easy
but if you do your research carefully there is no reason why you can
not get these figures reasonable accurate which is very important for
your cash flow projections.

Brand: More than Graphic Design
Many people believe that branding is about having a
unique logo, but a brand is more than a logo, or a tagline, or a glossy
brochure. Whilst a logo is a great way to communicate a powerful idea
about your business and can increase the recognition of your company,
leading brands such as Air New Zealand, Starbucks, Nike, and Apple
Mac, also recognize the need to deliver on the promise behind their
